“The hand following the intellect” (M. Buonarroti) is a short documentary that pays tribute to Italian artisanal tradition, a heritage able to inspire and create masterpieces within perfect union between tradition and innovation.

Ideated, designed and produced by our studio in occasion of the exhibit “Salvatore Ferragamo: 1898-1960”, the documentary is the emotional story of handmade crafting. The exhibit, divided in thematic and not in chronological areas, traces back the life, the passions, the ambitions and the projects of the visionary shoemaker. Craftsmanship, amongst the themes of the exhibit, has influenced and stimulated the production throughout the whole career of Salvatore Ferragamo.

Recalling an important chapter in the stylist’s artistic production, that is a golden sandal made in 1956 for an anonymous American client, the short film recognizes the fundamental inspiring role of the Italian artisanal tradition in the work and creativity of Salvatore Ferragamo.
